This post is of my two year old, sitting in our empty kitchen eating lunch. She set herself here and I just wished I could hear what she was thinking.
This post has been writing itself in my head for a couple months, but actually sitting down and writing it, isn’t the easiest thing for me to do. Usually, for our family anyways, when we say we have “big news” or “something to say” its that I am pregnant… well, that’s not the case this time. 🙂
Our family, after 6 years here in Pagosa Springs, has decided to take a huge leap of faith and we are moving.
Now, before I go any further, I want to say what a blessing this town has been to us. We are so thankful for everything and everyone that we have come to know. As a mom, teacher, wife, and photographer I have gotten to know so many amazing people and families in this town. So, for that we thank you. We thank you for getting to know us, we thank you Pagosa for teaching us and we will miss you all.
Pagosa Springs was the first place Rob and I were able to call home as a married couple. Rob and I both began our teaching careers here. We both had amazing staff and support as we were first year teachers and fresh from college. Thank you for those that were so patient and helpful to us that first year! We have started our family and have four amazing children. If it wasn’t for our time in this town, I don’t know if I would have ever fallen back into the love for photography. I am sure I would have never explored the world of homeschooling, which I am so grateful for and can’t see myself doing anything different. If it wasn’t for Pagosa I am not sure we would have found the importance of family time and have found out what works for our growing family. I am so thankful for this town and everything that we have grown to love, and we know that God lead us here to teach us so many things, and I will forever be grateful for our time here.
So, where is our little family headed?!? We are off to the sunshine state! We are headed to the gulf coast and going to Florida! We are trading in the mountains for a beach, and our fireplace for an air conditioner. This is crazy new for us, both Rob and I are Colorado natives and know nothing but the fresh air and mountains. We are excited for this adventure, excited to be close to my mom, and ready for this journey that we are beginning.
Today’s post is not technically correct. There are many days that I struggle to take “snap shots” of my kids because it doesn’t follow the “rules” of photography. Well, this weeks post I threw my visions, and thoughts out the window. I didn’t care if these looked like “snapshots” and didn’t look “perfect”.
This week I was able to capture my two middles actually playing, laughing and learning together. Now, don’t get me wrong these two do play together, but usually with the guidance of myself or their big sister. It is very rare that the two of them will play and not argue during that play.
My camera happened to be in the car and when I brought it in the lens kept fogging up. This was frustrating since I wasn’t sure how long this moment of togetherness was actually going to last. 🙂
My first image that I am posting is the image I chose out of them all to post. This image is beyond perfect but is my favorite. Kynnlie put the puzzle together and they were hugging in celebration of her doing it! The lens at this time was still foggy, but I am thankful to catch this moment.
I hope to be better about catching my kids’ moments and letting my perfectionism win over… I know I will regret it one day if I don’t catch these tiny things that they do.
This week my two little caught the camera’s attention.
This first image my two year old daughter fell asleep in her tutu. She sleeps with us, or our oldest and everyone woke up complaining about this scratchy tutu…. anything to make a two year old happy right 🙂
This week my baby turns 9 months old 🙁 I wanted to capture the stage he is in… great big smiles and putting EVERYTHING in his mouth.
This last one captured my heart when I was editing. I love everything about it. She looks up to her big sister so much!
We took a little bit of a risk for this session. We scheduled for a 10:00 session in the beginning of March. You never know what you are going to get for weather in March in Colorado. But, thankfully the hour that we were out, the sun was shining and the sky was blue. The kiddos were troopers in the chilly shade, but none the less we captured some amazing photos!
Little miss BayLee is one of my “Watch me Grow” kiddos. She has grown so much this passed nine months and is really beginning to develope some amazing little personality. You can view BayLee’s 4 month session here and her newborn session here!
Thank you guys for trusting me and going with my crazy snowy mountain morning vision!
